Fashionable wristwatches dominate the modest interior of Virey Timepieces, a new shop at The Square.

They provide watches for people of all ages, for young and old, for men and women, for every occasion. Juan Carlos Reyes and his brother Ulises established Virey with dreams of outfitting islanders in brand name watches such as Anonimo, Rado, Michele Dubey, Formex and Technomarine.

Many of their watches are hard to find collectibles, such as the Graham analog originally made during World War II for the British Royal Air Force (it has an exagerrated windup mechanism that allowed pilots to reset the time without their gloves and leather bombers getting in the way). Another shop rarity, the Stradivari, is a chunky timepiece from Italian watchmaker Anonimo which is inlaid with white gold. Only 125 were manufactured and were given to such notables as British Pirme Minister Tony Blair and President George Bush.

Parade: At 11:00 a.m. the Key Biscayne Parade Committee presents the 4th of July Parade on Crandon Blvd. Everyone participating in the parade should be in position by 10:30 a.m.

Spray Pool Opening: Immediately after the parade please join the Mayor and Council Members as we open the new spray pool on the Village Green. There will be a quick ribbon cutting and then the children can cool off in the new fountain.

Picnic: Immediately after the parade The Kiwanis of Key Biscayne Picnic will begin on the Village Green.

Taste of the Key: The Kiwanis of Key Biscayne sponsored Taste of the Key will take place from 6p.m to 9p.m. on the Village Green.

Fourth of July Concert: Dr. Rock and The Starlites by "Dr. Rock", Steve Gyrb, present the sounds of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, on the Village Green from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Fireworks: The Village of Key Biscayne proudly presents their world class fire works display at 9:00 p.m. The fireworks' barge will be positioned between the Sonesta Beach Resort and the Beach Club. The synchronized music can be heard from the Beach Club, Ocean Front Park, Village Green and on Channel 16.

Miami Seaquarium's Splashtacular Summer
Miami Seaquarium announces the opening of a new children's wet/dry playground area, called "Salty's Pirate Playground." The attraction will consist of a two-level pirate ship, 31 feet by 27 feet, located at the center of a shark filled moat. The pirate ship, featuring water blasters, cargo nets, punch bags, padded areas and a spiral slide, will be geared to entertain kids ages two through twelve.

In addition to this permanent themed structure, two more play areas will be added surrounding the pirate ship; one for kids ages five through twelve; and another for children ages two through five. For the summer, the play area will also have an inflatable killer whale water slide, providing more cool fun.

There is something for everyone at Miami Seaquarium. While the kids play, the adults can stay cool, sit and relax in Salty's Pirate Playground's new picnic area.
