Travel Agencies vs. Online Services: Lately, TV has been full of ads promoting the booking of hotel online at fantastic savings. Interestingly, a resent study shows that Travel Agents have a 92% success rate in finding the lowest fare while online sites produce the lowest hotel rate 8% of the time. In addition to difficult functionality among tested websites, many properties were not available for the dates requested at the quoted price. Also, there are many differences in service levels between online bookings and using a Travel Agency.

Travel Agencies, as opposed to online services offer: No service fee for hotel reservations; Credit card to guarantee reservation is not charged until travel; 24 hr cancellation fee; More likely to receive upgrades and amenities due to relationship and buying power; Friendly, experienced agents who knows you and your travel preferences, reachable via phone or Email; and User-friendly with no error messages. For more information contact John Greeven, Key Biscayne Travel Service at 305.361.5429.

Virginia Key Beach Park, at 3851 Rickenbacker Causeway just past the Miami Seaquarium, is a 77-acre tract of land owned by the City of Miami. The park was known as the "Colored Beach" during the era of racial segregation in the South. Closed in 1982 due to maintenance and operation costs, the Park has since reopened and is now being restored. The Virginia Key Beach Park Trust, created in January 2001, by the City of Miami Commission, is sponsoring the Site Planning Sessions and working with others to preserve the park.
