Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center has organized some wonderful activities for the month of February.

  • February 5, 9-12pm Volunteer Eco Restoration Day:  Help is always needed with the planting of native species and the removal of exotic and invasive vines     The Biscayne Nature Center can provide community service hours upon request
  • February 5, 10-12pm & February 20, 11am—1pm Seagrass Adventure:  Join an experienced Naturalist for a wet guided tour of the Seagrass beds, appropriate for ages 5 through to adult.    Wear closed toe shoes that can get wet, and bring a change of clothes for this exciting adventure! 
  • February 13, 1-3pm Hammock Hike:  This unique two hour program will give you the opportunity to experience the coastal maritime hammock through the Bear Cut Preserve.        

Program fee is $10 per person. Registration is required for all tours.

Watch the Super Bowl on Adelphia's High Definition Television!  The High Definition Television from Adelphia is now available for Key Biscayne residents.  Tune in this February 6th to Channel 703 - WSVN FOX-Miami or call 1-877-9-HDTV-NOW (1-877-943-8866).

Friday, February 25, 2005 -- Born Free Pet Shelter Fundraiser

Born Free Pet Shelter is holding its first annual "Second Chances" fundraising dinner on February 25th at the Rusty Pelican on Key Biscayne! The evening will include food, open bar, live music and a silent auction with lots of great items to bid on. The cost is $60 per person, or $550 for a table of ten with all proceeds benefitting the shelter. Exploring Worksite Wellness (EWWI):   The Health Council of South Florida, Inc. invites our Chamber members to participate in a special project on workplace wellness. EWWI is funded by the Health Foundation of South Florida.   The purpose of this survey is to assess:

  • The level of interest in a worksite wellness program designed for company employees; and
  • The local efforts in the area of worksite wellness, including experiences, successes and challenges, and recommendations.

The project is being implemented by the Health Council of South Florida, Inc. in coordination with Florida International University’s Stempel School of Public Health and the Miami-Dade County Health Department.
