Friday October 14 -- 6 to 9pm -- The Rotary’s Second Annual Key Biscayne Wine Festival
Sample wines from the world’s leading vineyards and nibble on delicacies prepared by the Sonesta’s expert culinary team. Event proceeds will benefit the Key Biscayne Rotary Club Foundation and its affiliated charities.

This year, they hope to raise enough money to send 15 Braille machines to school for the Blind  #505,  Merlo City, in Buenos Aires Argentina. They will be expanding their reach by also giving to the Diabetes Research Institute who works with type one juvenile diabetes to purchase diabetes testers and insulin dispensers for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 pm, the Zoning Workshop will take place in the Village Council Chambers. There will be several zoning topics presented at the Workshop, which will give you a chance to learn about the changes and to voice your opinion. We hope to see you at this important workshop. Tuesday, October 25 6:00 pm: Key Notes - Key Folk Heroes at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School (RSMAS)! The Rosenstiel School hopes to help its neighbors get to know the Rosenstiel School better in a new series of family-friendly talks: KEY!Notes.  Next Tuesday's event will be held in the school's auditorium and will feature Virginia Key and Key Biscayne local legends Mabel Miller and James “Jimbo” Luznar.  The two will talk about their life and times on Virginia Key and Key Biscayne.

Designed to showcase the school's own esteemed faculty, KEY!Notes is a new series of free, hour-long talks that will feature issues that specifically interest those on Key Biscayne and Virginia Key. Parking is available on campus. Light refreshments will be served.

Through the months of October & November: Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30am The Grand Bay Club on Key Biscayne will be offering Hydro-Pilates! Instructor Kim Bennett will show us how low-impact water exercise reduces fat, cellulite, creates a more streamlined shape, improves posture, strengthens muscles, and relieves arthritis symptoms without putting stress on the joints. This 55 minute course focuses on the core and strengthening of the back. Burn up to 600 calories a class!  See how exercising in the water allows you to work at your own level, lose weight, and have fun at the same time!

Kim Bennett is certified by the National Aquatics Exercise Association to teach water exercise and aerobics. She is also a certified teacher of Hyrdro-Pilates. Kim will show us non-impact strengthening and stretching movements that require precise breathing and muscle control. Mind-body focus in gradual methodical placement and movement uses moves from yoga, modern dance and gymnastics.

Group size: Minimum 8, Maximum 15
Cost: $10 for Grand Bay Club Members and $15 for Guests. Cost is for a 1 hour session and payments must be made monthly.
