James Owens is the advertising director of The Islander News. James grew up on the Key, attending Key Biscayne Elementary School, Ponce de Leon Middle School, and Coral Gables High School. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Political Science from Barry University and a minor in sports medicine.

James is a member of the 4th of July Committee, Chamber of Commerce Marketing Committee, Key Biscayne Relay for Life Media Committee, the Florida Press Association and National Newspaper Association.

In his spare time, James enjoys fishing, playing softball and other outdoor sports. James would like to bring his knowledge of Key Biscayne's past with his optimism for Key Biscayne's future to the Chamber Board of Directors.
